I’m restarting this blog again. Here’s why. And the latest on my career/living status.
Version 1 was a WordPress-backed blog. It was fine, but when I started trying to learn Ruby on Rails, I wanted to find a good RoR-based blogging package. So version 2 was based on Mephisto. That package may be great now, I don’t know, but the version back then was pretty buggy. When I was trying to learn RoR that bugginess was charming, but now I don’t feel like fooling with it. The final straw was when I couldn’t even get the admin panel to come up. That means it’s time to change back to tried-and-true WordPress.
I don’t feel like writing at length tonight but here’s the latest in a nutshell. I work for a small Web publishing company in Huntsville, AL, writing PHP code. However, this employer has been very accommodating of my need for adventure, so I no longer really live in Huntsville. Instead, I’m moving to Mud Island in downtown Memphis, where I can enjoy exploring a bigger city and also play poker some 20 hours a week or so in the Tunica casinos. I commute back to HSV twice a month so I’m not totally out of touch.
So yeah, that’s what I do right now. Please subscribe to the RSS — either the full one or the latest important life changes — because who knows? In a year I may be somewhere totally different.
